Topic Title: Wondering when to change companiesFirst Post:
I am a new Realtor, been at my current company about five months. I have had two listings, no sales, no $$. I am okay with that right now. My problem is the monstrous waste of time in the office. I have floor duty 4-5 times a month and rarely get one phone call. If the phone does ring, its for an $8000 rat shack 2 hours away. I have done open houses with no one showing up. I am working on prospecting at my own, but the wasting of the time here is draining me dry and making me lose my enthusiasm. I dont know if there is a punishment for skipping floor duty. I would love it if there were actually some calls. Even worse, its split between two agents. Most of the time no one gets a call. Sometimes only one does. I am not ready to throw in the towel on real estate. However, I have gotten a tip about a top agent in the area who is seeking a buyers agent, and I am wondering if I should jump. I would be jumping from a local broker with a multi-office presence in three counties into a biggie--Keller Williams. I am just wondering if that is a better way to get actual WORK to do rather than sit in a cubicle and stare at the phone to see if it rings. How does it work if you are a buyers agent for another agent? I have heard Keller Williams has no floor duty, true? Not that I dont want to work it, but like I said...there are NO CALLS here. I try to work on other stuff, but after the drive over to my office, with no action, it is hard to stay awake! I want to WORK and Im not getting anywhere! Also, is it really bad to jump companies so new into things? I have a soft spot for this company, but when I started out, this was the only one I checked out. I thought I would like the localness of it, as opposed to be the big guys of KW, ReMax, etc. but I dont know. I feel in the wilderness here and am wondering if being part of a team would be more to my liking. Any advice about working as a buyers agent for another agents team would be very much appreciated!
